Marie Skeie is based in Hardanger and has lived in Japan, Brazil and Scotland. She is an artist, researcher and curator. She has her educational background from the Academy of Art and Design in Bergen with specialization in Textiles and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Bergen. She has her master’s in art and public Space at the National Academy of Art and Design in Oslo. She has also studied the curatorial practice in public spaces at Public Art Norway.

As an artist, Marie Skeie is concerned with working with her hands, with materials and the landscape around us. Her art practice is between art and craft, knowledge and aesthetics, activism and ethics. She works practically and theoretically with land crafting through plant dyeing and weaving. Working with land crafting affects our relationship and knowledge of the environment around us. In recent years, she has worked with plant dyeing in Gaza, through the Colors of Gaza research project in a kindergarten and through her own work. Currently, she works with grief and hope in the works If we go back there is no colours and other works in progress.
