Deltakerne er juryert inn av styret i Norske tekstilkunstnere (NTK).
Vårens kunstneropphold varer fra mandag 15. august til mandag 12. september 2022.
Om AiR Green:
Kunstneroppholdet AiR Green ble initiert av NTK i 2015 for å skape en arena for fordypning og konsentrasjon, bidra til utvikling og synliggjøring av tekstilkunst og fremme kontakt mellom kunstnere med ulik tilnærming til tekstilfeltet. AiR Green foregår på idylliske Søndre Green gård i Krødsherad i Buskerud, som eies og drives av tekstilkunstner Kristin Lindberg. Kunstneroppholdet har blitt avholdt hvert år siden 2016.

Cristina Mariani
Cristina Mariani lives and works in Florence, Italy. Graduated in Art and Design then studied Hand Weaving and Tapestry in Rome and Florence, where she deepened every aspect of textile culture: from artisanal and technical to artistic and anthropological. She exhibited at: Imbiancheria del Vajro (Chieri), Palazzo Collicola, Galleria Officina d’Arte e Tessuti (Spoleto), Teatro del Maggio Musicale, Galleria La Fonderia (Florence), Australian Tapestry Workshop (Melbourne), Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts (Lodz).
She teaches hand weaving and tapestry, since 2019 she has collaborated with fashion brands and designers.
The Mineralier project is currently in progress in collaboration with the faculty of Geology of Florence and Perugia, the aim is to map local geological context and reflect on a wider perspective about the concept of soil.
In my works I seek the fusion of digital aesthetics and scientific data with the ancient, ritual and slow art of weaving: scientific data (sound spectrograms, thin sections of rocks, soil chromatographies) loses its accuracy and function while becoming a soft and flexible element.
My current research intends to investigate the perception of soil and rocks as immutable and inert entities.
Soil chromatographies and thin sections of rocks will be the starting point to create textile totemic objects, handwoven tapestries using vertical and flat looms. Wool will be dyed with local herbs and plants. The images and samples will be collected locally to investigate the specific territory between Oslo and Noresund.

Damien Ajavon
Based in Oslo, Damien Ajavon is a queer textile artist, born in France, of Senegalese and Togolese origin. His work explores the different methods in which textiles fibers can be manipulated by hand: knitted, knotted, braided, tangled, and woven. The interaction between visual and tactile experiences has always played an important role in his process; he uses his African and western influences as a vehicle for his textile storytelling and as visual markers of his creative approaches. It is through textile languages rather than oral ones that Damien has been unearthing and weaving connections with his ancestry.
“I want to explore rope-making techniques such as kumihimo and find a way to combine it with weaving to use the warp and give the weft shape and texture. Not only that, I am Curious to create in a new environment such as a farm in Norwegian nature, and also use local materials like wool from the farm for my textile and see what will happen.”

Helene Førde
Helene Førde er en interdisiplinær kunstner basert i Bergen, med mastergrad i billedkunst fra Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen og Nordic Sound Art programmet i 2014. Førde har de senere år hatt utstillinger, oppdrag og residencies i Norge, Italia, Sverige, Tyskland, Østerrike, Kina og USA.
I sin kunstneriske praksis arbeider Førde med installasjoner og skulpturelle arbeider, gjerne med lyd og interaktive elementer som en integrert del av verket. Fotografi, trykk, tegning, lys- og tekstilarbeid er også del av hennes praksis. En stedssensitiv tilnærmingsmåte er et viktig og gjennomgående trekk i arbeidet.
Tematisk er Førde interessert i å utforske verdier, minner, persepsjon, og steders særegne historie og karakter. Flere tidligere verk fokuserer på arbeidsliv, kulturhistorie og livsmønstre, i møte med ny tid, endring, miljøutfordringer og aktuell politikk. Naturen står sentralt i hennes arbeid, og verkene utforsker hvordan mennesket forholder seg til naturen, på godt og vondt.
”På AIR Green ønsker jeg å lære mest mulig – både nye metoder og ny materialkunnskap – fra ressursene rundt meg og de andre deltakende kunstnerne. Jeg har lenge ønsket å lære mer om veving, og om plantefarging. Jeg er opptatt av natur både som tema og material, og ser fram til å utforske plantefarger, ull og andre naturlige materialer.”

Forough Absalan
Forough Absalan is an interdisciplinary textile-artist based in Berlin. During and after her academic years in Iran, she travelled in the Zagros and southern vicinities to practice and learn the local textile weaving craft. Within her work, she explores such crafting methods to embody the tone of her artwork. It takes a critical view of social, political and ecofeminist discourse often applying concepts from mythology, folklore and literature, which have profound impacts on west Asian contemporary culture today.
Her current project „The Tragedy of Oak“ is a texile installation conducted during the residency.
